You use the Threshold Manager utility to monitor the
internal operating system resources that can lead to a system abort
when they reach critical levels of utilization. Threshold Manager can simply
notify you whenever a monitored resource exceeds user-defined levels (allowing
you to choose a course of action), or, it can
prevent new job and session logons when the system reaches the critical level.
This chapter teaches you how to use Threshold Manager. It includes the
following topics:
starting (entering) and exiting Threshold Manager
enabling and disabling Threshold Manager
resetting the configuration
turning global notifications on and off
displaying the configuration as a list and graphically
printing current configuration information
turning resource monitoring on and off
adding, deleting and modifying a threshold
modifying the interval time of an operation cycle
monitoring Threshold Manager with OpenView Manager and personalizing the
OVC icon
Threshold Manager runs on any Hewlett-Packard Precision Architecture
HP 3000 system that has been updated to MPE/iX version C.50.00
(release 5.0 or later). No additional hardware is needed.
