HP CD Extensions for MPE/iX Installation and Administration Guide

Appendix D Troubleshooting

This appendix gives you instructions for troubleshooting problems that
may occur when you use HP CD extensions. The appendix also describes the
internal process that occurs when you run HP CD extensions, and it shows
you the error messages you may see as a result of this process.

                               a. The networking software is
installed and running on the HP
                                   3000 system and the PC.

                               b. CDSERVER is running on the HP 3000
                                   system.

                               c. The HP 3000 system hostname and IP
address are included in the PC's
                                   HOSTS file.

                               d. You can successfully establish a

system from the PC. For example,
make sure that you can run WRQ
                                   Reflection, HP Advancelink, or
                                   PING.

                               f. The HP 3000 hostname is correctly
                                   specified in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file
                                   on the PC.

                        2. Reboot the PC.

remove it (see Appendix C for
                            information).

If you have an external CD-ROM drive, do
not turn it off to unlock the door; if
you do, the HP 3000 will hang until you
return the MPE/iX disk to the drive.

                        2. Insert an HSG or ISO-9660 formatted
                            CD-ROM disk in the drive.

                        3. Run the Media Manager on the HP 3000
                            systemto mount the disk.

                        4. At the Media Manager prompt, type:

                                 MOUNT ALL

                        5. At the Media Manager prompt, type:

to verify that the CD-ROM is mounted.

with MSCDEX. you may not be able to access them. If you try
to change to one of the listed drives--M:, for
example--you may experience one of these errors.

                        *   Your PC may hang.

                        * If you enter the DIR command from the C:>
prompt, the system may display the error

If one of these three errors occurs, remove the
/E option from MSCDEX and reboot your PC.
