HP CD Extensions for MPE/iX Installation and Administration Guide

Installing the Software

To install the client software, you use a standard setup program that
asks for information about your HP 3000 system and your installation
directory and then prompts you to update your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

To install the software:

   1. Insert the HP CD extensions client software installation floppy
disk into the PC's floppy disk drive (for example, drive A).

   2. Make the floppy disk drive the current drive.

       Type:

            A:

       then press [Enter].

   3. At the A: prompt, type:

            SETUP

       then press [Enter].

   4. When the setup program prompts you, enter the name of your HP 3000
system and the directory on the PC where you want to install HP CD
       extensions client software.

If you do not specify a directory, the setup program creates a
       default directory called HPNETCD.

   5. When the setup program prompts you to update the AUTOEXEC.BAT
       file, specify Yes or No.

If you specify Yes, the setup program adds the necessary lines to
       your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

If you specify No, the setup program saves the lines in a new
       file--AUTOEXEC.NEW.

The setup program copies the virtual device driver into the
default or specified directory, modifies the MSCDEX line to
include the HP CD extensions information, and saves the
       AUTOEXEC.BAT information.

   6. When the setup program is finished, remove the HP CD extensions
client software installation disk, and reboot the PC.

HP CD extensions establishes a network connection between the
client PC and CDSERVER. This connection stays open even if you do
not access the CD-ROM drive. To verify that the connection is
established, check that you can access server files from the
       client PC.
