Specifying Databases
Specifying Databases
You use the Database Information screen to specify which database entries
in the Dictionary/3000 data dictionary you want translated into the
Information Access data dictionary.
The utility opens each database in turn. If an open succeeds, the
utility translates the database definition and as many datasets as are
defined in the Dictionary/3000 data dictionary for the specified
database. If an open fails, the utility skips that database and attempts
to open the next one.
To return to the Dictionary/3000 Information screen, press TRANS Main
f8. This lets you:
* Print the log file showing the results of your requested
translations.
* Specify another Dictionary/3000 data dictionary with which to
work.
* Exit from the Translator Utility.
The Database Information screen is shown on the next page. Table 11-3
its fields.

To Specify Which Databases to Translate:.
The screen displays the name of the remote system (blank if you're
working with the host machine) and the names of the databases defined in
the Dictionary/3000 data dictionary.
1. Type in the group, account, and password for each database you
want to translate. If you do not want to translate a database,
leave these fields blank.
2. To begin the translation, press Enter.
After each specified database is checked to make sure it exists
(and the information is corrected if an error occurs), the
database definition is added to the Information Access data
dictionary, and the datasets defined in the Dictionary/3000 data
dictionary for that database are added as IMAGE tables.
If you are the primary DBA and the database already exists, the
duplicate database error message is ignored. If you are a
secondary DBA and the database already exists, translation will
continue only if the database is controlled by you.
The tables are listed on the screen as they are added. Any tables
that are added are controlled by the DBA who controls the
database.

NOTE To cancel the remainder of your translation request, type a
CTRL Y. The utility will stop processing after the
completion of the current transaction.

3. To leave this screen, choose TRANS Main f8. This returns you to
the Dictionary/3000 Information screen. From there, you can print
the log file, specify another dictionary, or exit the utility.
