Enabling Access Server

To enable Access Server and make it available to users, type the UDC:

         :ENABLEAC

or,

         :RUN ADMIN.PPC.SYS;PARM=1;INFO="ADMIN/password"

Enabling Access Server makes the HP 3000 software available to PC users
and performs housekeeping functions to ensure that related files and data
are in order.

Enabling Access Server:

   1. Flags the Information Access data dictionary databases (HDPDIC and
HDPENV) as available to users. (For information on clearing the
flag, see "Disabling Access Server," above.)

   2. Clears active users from the HDPENV database. This step ensures
that the only users defined as active are those who log on to
       Access Server after each startup.

The enable process includes this step to keep the Administrator
Utility's active users list accurate. Because PC user
identifications are not cleared after a power failure or system
failure, the active users list would include users who were logged
on before the failure, but who did not log on again after the
restart. This "clear" step removes user IDs incorrectly shown as
       active.

   3. Creates a file named HDPMAIL.PPCSAVE.HPOFFICE that controls
termination of all server processes when you disable Access
Server. This file is explained under "Disabling Access Server."

   4. Checks to see that all saved table definitions in the data
dictionary have corresponding files in PPCSAVE.HPOFFICE.
