Chapter 2 Configuring the TELNET/iX Client
This chapter describes how to verify installation of and configure the
TELNET/iX Client. References for configuring a new LAN or X.25 link are
also provided.
This chapter covers the following areas outlined in Figure 3:
* TELNET/iX Client hardware and software requirements
* Verification of TELNET/iX Client product installation
* Configuring the SERVICES and ARPA Domain Name files, and
* Restarting the network

NOTE Some of the information in this chapter is also included in
Installing and Managing HP ARPA File Transfer Protocol
Network Manager's Guide (36957-61001) for installing the
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) product. Some of the steps
outlined here may not be applicable if you have already
completed them for FTP.

If you are installing a new MPE/iX system and link or are updating to a
new release of MPE/iX, first refer to the HP 3000 MPE/iX Installation,
Update, and Add On Manual (36123-90001) for instructions on loading your
operating system, FOS, subsystem tapes, and updating your LAN
configuration as appropriate.
To configure a new LAN link, refer to the HP 3000/iX Network Planning and
Configuration Guide (36922-61023), and then return to this manual. If
you are providing Ethernet support, remember to update the LAN
Configuration screen Enable Ethernet field to yes (Y).
There are no additional configuration steps needed to use the TELNET/iX
Client over an X.25 link. To configure the X.25 products, refer to the
HP 3000/iX Network Planning and Configuration Guide.
Figure 3 provides an overview of the tasks required for installing,
configuring, and starting the TELNET/iX Client.
