HP TELNET/iX Client Users Guide
Who Should Use this Manual
Chapter 2 of this manual is intended for the HP 3000 network
manager/administrator who is responsible for managing the networking
products and resources on the HP 3000 and will be configuring the
TELNET/iX Client. It is expected that the network manager has a thorough
knowledge of HP 3000 networking.
The remainder of this manual is intended for MPE/iX users who want to use
the TELNET/iX Client to logon remotely between the HP 3000 and the HP
9000 or non-HP systems that support TELNET.
Before Using the TELNET/iX Client
In order to use the TELNET/iX Client, the product must first be installed
and configured on the HP 3000 acting as the Client. Refer to Chapter 2
for information on how to do this. In addition, TELNET must be installed
and configured on all servers on your network that will be accessed by
the TELNET/iX Client. Your network administrator must also have the
network and all accessed servers up and running. Finally, you should
know the logon sequences of all remote hosts that you will be accessing.
To use the TELNET/iX Client, you will need the following information from
your network administrator for each system you are accessing:
* ARPA domain name, remote internet protocol (IP) address, or NS
node name.
* User logons and passwords.
