HP TELNET/iX Client Users Guide

Hardware and Software Requirements 

In order to install and use the TELNET/iX Client, you need the following:

   *   MPE/iX FOS version 5.0 or later, for the HP 3000 which includes:

          *   A program file which is necessary to run the HP TELNET/iX
              Client:  TELNET.ARPA.SYS.

          *   An ASCII information file:  TELNTDOC.ARPA.SYS. 

          *   SERVICES.NET.SYSis not included but is required to use the
              TELNET/iX Client.  Refer to the SERVICES file section later
              in this chapter for more information on configuring this
              file. 

          *   For Ethernet/802.3 local area network support:  ThinLAN
              3000/iX Link, or its ThickLAN option.

Optional:

   *   For X.25 wide area network support:  X.25 System Access software
       for the host MPE/iX system, and the DTC/X.25 Network Access
       product.

   *   For FDDI local area network support:  FDDI 3000/iX Network Link.

   *   For Token Ring local area network support:  Token Ring 3000/iX
       Network Link.

   *   For Point-to-Point wide area support:  NS Point-to-Point 3000/iX
       Network Link.
