HP DeskManager Administration
Approach to Problems
There is no predefined set of steps you must work through whenever a
problem arises with HP Desk because there is such a wide range of
potential causes. The most useful thing to do is to be a thorough as
possible and use the available sources of information to either locate
the problem or to eliminate possible causes.
Check all available sources of information, such as Maintenance reports,
network statistics reports, console reports, Desklogs and $STDLISTs.
Check all of the most common potential causes, such as;
* Missing files.
* Full database.
* Corrupt database.
* HP 3000 out of disk space.
* Other HP 3000 or MPE problem.
If the source of the problem is not immediately apparent restart HP Desk.
If the same problem occurs again, look at the available reports again and
compare them with those produced the last time the problem occurred. It
might be that there is some common element which will give you a clue as
to the source of the problem.
If you still cannot find the cause of the problem, contact your
Hewlett-Packard representative.
