HP DeskManager Administration
Supporting Users
As the HP Desk Administrator, you are the person users will contact if
they have a problem with HP Desk. It will often be the case that users
don't know how to do the task they are attempting. You need to know HP
Desk in sufficient detail to tell them what to do or where to look in the
HP DeskManager User Reference Guide.
Be aware of your users' level of knowledge and try and cater for it.
Some people may quickly learn how to use HP Desk, while others may make
apparently simple mistakes for a while. If some users have continual
problems with HP Desk, you should consider providing them with additional
reference material and training specifically designed to meet their
needs.
For problems other than user misunderstanding, get as much relevant
information as you can from the user as quickly as possible. For
example:
* When did the problem arise.
* What was the user attempting to do at the time.
* Has this problem occurred before?
It is a good idea to write down the details of each problem along with
the details of its solution. That way you can build up a record of
solutions to particular problems for future reference.
