HP DeskManager Administration

Chapter 23  Basic Problem Solving

As the HP Desk Administrator you will be the first person called upon to
deal with any problems which arise with your HP Desk system. This does
not mean that you are expected to be able to solve all of these problems.
On the contrary, if a problem arises which can only be resolved by
actions outside the scope of this manual (you have a corrupt database
which needs patching), you should contact your Hewlett-Packard
representative and not attempt to do anything yourself. This chapter
will give you a better idea of what you can do yourself, like solving
users' problems, and what you should leave to Hewlett-Packard.

The most important thing to do is adopt the correct approach to problem
solving, whether it is something you can solve yourself or something you
have to pass on to someone else.

   *   Be logical.

   * Gather all of the relevant information which is available.

   *   Analyze the information.

   * If you are unsure of how to resolve the problem, always call
       Hewlett-Packard.
