Scratching Disks

When disks are first formatted and initialized with the STORE=YES
parameter, they are considered to be in the "scratched" state, and are
available for STORE/iX II. Once a piece of media has been written to by
STORE/iX II, it must be scratched before it can be overwritten. This is
accomplished by using the SCRATCH command of MOUTIL. You must specify the
name of the media to be scratched. You can optionally scratch a specific
surface within the media by specifying a media subname.

   1. Run MOUTIL by entering MOUTIL at the system prompt. For example:

               :MOUTIL Return

   2. Enter the SCRATCH command at the MOUTIL prompt. For example:

               moutil: SCRATCH MEDIA=MONTHLY10 MEDIASUB=VOLUME01 LDEV=101 Return

   3. Remove or replace labels on the disk and container.
