Native Mode Spooler Reference Manual

Functions and Commands

Generally, users perform eight functions to control files: create, list,
print, alter, browse, copy, rename, and purge. With the NMS, users can
perform these same eight functions to control spool files. The NMS has
made spool files into regular, visible files.

Three commands (SPOOLER, SPOOLF, and LISTSPF) support the NMS directly.
A number of MPE/iX commands perform related tasks. The commands and
their syntax are found in chapter 4.

Three utilities also relate to the NMS. They are SPIFF, SPFXFER and
PRINTSPF.

   * The SPIFF utility allows you to display, search, copy, append, and
       transfer spool files.

   * The SPFXFER utility allows spool file transfer by magnetic tape
between MPE systems that do not support the NMS and those that do.

   * The PRINTSPF utility displays spool file contents in a formatted
manner so that you can view both the data and the special overhead
       area of each record.
