Native Mode Spooler Reference Manual

Chapter 1 Introduction

The native mode spooler (NMS) is an MPE/iX subsystem used for managing
and controlling print files and printing devices. A spooler enables
numerous user processes that require a printer to run simultaneously
instead of restricting access to only one print process per printer.
This means that many programs may share a single printer. Spool is an
abbreviation for simultaneous peripheral operation online. The NMS
provides a friendly, easy, and powerful way to create and control spool
files and spooled devices.
