Native Mode Spooler Reference Manual

NMS Users 

If you are a user who accesses spooled devices to generate hardcopy
output, or to submit batch jobs or data, or if you want to view or
manipulate your spool files, then you benefit from the NMS. If you are
the system manager who is in charge of configuring devices and setting up
operation UDCs and other tools that allow other types of spooler use,
then you, too, will find the NMS very useful.

If you are an NMS user, you may have four different levels of capability
or you may be the console user.  The levels of capability include system
manager (SM), operator (OP), account manager (AM), and general user
capabilities.  As a result of either your being the console user or your
capability level, some of the commands return behave differently and
different information.  This is illustrated in some of the tasks in
chapter 3.
