Saving a Spool File
Once output spool files print, they are deleted unless you have made
provision not to delete them. One way to save an output spool file is to
use the SPSAVE option with the JOB command. Copy MYJOB1 into MYJOB2 by
entering:
COPY MYJOB1, MYJOB2
Now, edit the first line of MYJOB2' and change ";OUTCLASS=LP,1" to
";SPSAVE". The line should read:
!JOB MYJOB1,user/userpass.account/accountpass;INPRI=9;RESTART;SPSAVE
Save MYJOB2, exit the editor, and enter:
STREAM MYJOB2
When the job is complete, enter LISTSPF and notice that the state for
this job's listing is SPSAVE. This means that the output spool file is
saved in the OUT.HPSPOOL account after it prints.
A way to not print an output spool file is to specify a low priority
(such as 1). You might call this a temporary save. In the file MYJOB1,
the 1 in the JOB option OUTCLASS=LP,1 specifies that the output spool
file has a output priority of 1.
