Native Mode Spooler Reference Manual

Copying a Spool File

When you create a spool file implicitly by streaming a job, or by opening
a spooled output device, an input spool file is automatically put into
the group IN.HPSPOOL and an output spool file is automatically put into
the group OUT.HPSPOOL. As a result, LISTF does not display the spool
files if you do not fully qualify the files with IN.HPSPOOL or
OUT.HPSPOOL. If you want to save an output spool file in your account,
you may do so by copying this file from the group OUT.HPSPOOL into your
account by using COPY or FCOPY. For example, to copy one of your output
spool files from OUT.HPSPOOL to your account, enter:

     COPY FROM=Onnnn.OUT.HPSPOOL;TO=outspfile

where Onnnn is the output spool file name (LISTSPF displays it) and
outspfile is the name that you give the local copy of the spool file.

[REV BEG]

NOTE When you copy an output spool file into your account, the copy is not linked to the spooling subsystem, although the original spool file in OUT.HPSPOOL remains linked. Chapter 3 has information about linked spool files. You can use the COPY command to copy a spool file to a hierarchical file directory structure; however, the resulting file is no longer linked to the spooling subsystem. Refer to MPE/iX Commands Reference Manual Volumes 1 and 2 (32650-90003 and 32650-90364) for more information on copying files. You cannot use the RENAME command to rename a spool file to a hierarchical file directory structure.
