RJE/XL Node Manager's Guide

Chapter 2 RJE BSC Link Installation Guidelines

To run RJE/XL on your HP 3000, you and your HP representative must
install the product and configure both your HP 3000 environment and the
host system to support RJE/XL. As a part of the configuration process,
you must make sure the HP 3000 parameters match those on the host side.

This chapter assumes that sometimes the installation tasks are divided
between you, the user, and your HP representative. Before the HP
representative arrives to install RJE/XL on the HP 3000, you must do the
following:

 * Ensure that the host system has the hardware and software
requirements as listed in the RJE User/Programmer Reference Manual.

 * Ensure that the host system has been configured to support RJE/XL
according to the procedures detailed in Chapter 3, "Configuring Host
    Systems to Include RJE/XL."

 * Obtain a copy of the new host system configuration listing; your HP
representative will need this information later during RJE/XL
    configuration.

 * Ensure that the modem link operates between the HP system and the
    host.

 * Ensure that the correct link has been installed.

 * Ensure that the HP system is at the proper release level. Load the
RJE/XL software using AUTOINST. Refer to the HP 3000 MPE XL
Installation and Update Manual for additional information on the
    AUTOINST command.

 * Ensure that all of the necessary software modules have been
successfully installed by AUTOINST. Use the NMMAINT.PUB.SYS utility
to ensure that they are at the correct version levels.

After you do these installation tasks, your HP representative takes over
and performs minimum configuration of RJE/XL to verify minimum product
functionality.
