IBM (Host) Troubleshooting Tools
The following methods and tools are available for troubleshooting on the
IBM host:
* Check the console HASP messages sent from the IBM host, given that
the communications line is not peer-to-peer.
* Check the Network Implementation Support Plan (NISP). The NISP
documents a customer's network design, the implementation processes
used and the Support Plan for the products operating on the system.
It is especially useful in assisting you in identifying configuration
changes.
* The Emulation Program (EP) provides you with information on the host
communications controller and emulates the IBM 2701, the IBM 2702, or
the IBM 2703 transmission control units. An EP generation provides
you with a definition of the physical environment in which the EP is
to run, characteristics of the data communications lines,
characteristics of the communications controller, and the definition
of the end of the program file.
* The Job Entry Subsystem (JES) generation provides you with a
definition of the data communication lines, as well as the remote
station facilities and characteristics.
For more information on IBM host generations, refer to chapter 3
which discusses the configuration of the IBM host to include RJE/XL.
