Hardware Troubleshooting Tools
The following tools may be used to isolate and identify hardware
problems.
* PSI Dump (using NETDMPnn.PUB.SYS)
If a link goes down, the NETDUMP file is automatically created by the
system, recording the intrinsic calls which occurred before and
during the link failure. The HP 3000 node manager can check for the
presence of a NETDUMP file by executing the LISTF command. If the
file is present, you should copy the file to tape and contact HP
support.
* SYSDIAG
The MPE XL utility SYSDIAG provides you with the ability to access
log files created when driver or PSI board-related errors occur. It
logs normal and error events of the system to the LOGxxxx.PUB.SYS
file. If the link goes down when tracing was not enabled and you do
not have access to a protocol analyzer, the SYSDIAG utility can be
used to examine the possible cause of the link going down.
* PSI Self Test
Refer to the Central Bus Programmable Serial Interface Installation
and Reference Guide for procedures in executing a diagnostic routine
on the PSI card.
* Online Diagnostic Program (PSIDAD)
Refer to the Online Diagnostic Subsystem Manual to run PSIDAD. This
is one of the tools available within the MPE XL SYSDIAG utility.
