Network Transport IP Subnetting Enhancement by Bryan Wing Business Networks Division Software enhancements have been made to the Network Transport to support IP subnetting. The products that include the Network Transport component are the ThinLAN 3000/XL Link (HP36920A), the NS Point-to-Point Network Link (HP36922A), and the DTC/X.25 XL Network Link (HP36939A). With this IP subnetting enhancement, customer networks can be configured to support IP subnet addressing. This is advantageous for customers that want two or more physically distinct networks to share the same network number. This is also advantageous for those customers that have acquired only one official network number and need to partition their network into two or more subnetworks. This IP Subnet enhancement to the Network Transport conforms to RFC 950. For more detailed information, refer to the related article in the "Technical Articles" section in this Communicator.
