HP WordServices Enhancements

HP WordServices provides HP Word/PC users access to shared background
formatting and printing services on the HP 3000. This new release of the
product, version A.00.02, has been enhanced to run under Resource Sharing
on both MPE V/E and XL. This allows HP Word/PC users with a LAN
connection to a 3000 to access HP WordServices in the same way as
AdvancePrint users.
An additional enhancement to HP WordServices is the more efficient
processing of HP Word/PC documents held on a Resource Sharing shared
disc. HP WordServices uses a Resource Sharing utility called DISCMGR to
directly access any required file. This greatly reduces the time
required to initiate a print request from HP Word/PC.
Note that NLS (Native Language Support) must be installed and configured
with at least the local language for HP WordServices to work correctly.
Any foreign language document will be correctly formatted and printed if
the corresponding NLS language is configured. NLS is provided with your
MPE operating system.
THE HP WORD MIGRATION STRATEGY
HP WordServices is an integral part of the HP Word Migration Strategy,
offering HP Word/3000 users a growth path to solutions based on the PC
and Series 900 machines. By adopting this smooth and easy growth path,
HP Word/3000 users can migrate to the next generation of office solutions
with minimum effort.
The HP Word Migration Strategy is a three part solution consisting of:
* HP Word/PC for the HP Vectra, the HP 150 and the IBM PS/2 range of
computers. Version A.03.03 or later is required to access HP
WordServices running under Resource Sharing.
* The HP Word Terminal Trade-in Program, making the move to PCs more
attractive.
* HP WordServices.
With the HP Word Migration Strategy, we've made sure that migration to
the next generation of office solutions means lasting investment. HP
Word Migration is based on migrating HP Word/3000 functionality to the
PC, while protecting investment in user applications.

The Administrator's Guide is included with the product as an HP Word/PC
document file. Instructions on how to use HP WordServices to print the
guide can be found in the file README.JFPS.HPOFFICE after the product has
been installed on your HP 3000.
