HP CD Extensions for MPE/iX Installation and Administration Guide
The Server Files
When you install MPE/iX 5.0, the installation program loads the main
application file, CDSERVER.PUB.SYS, and several support files onto your
HP 3000 system. This guide refers to the main server application as
CDSERVER.
The server software contains the files described in Table 3-1.
Table 3-1. HP CD Extensions Server Files
File Description
-----------------------------------------------------------------
CDSERVER.PUB.SYS The server application program that accepts
disk requests from the HP CD extensions
client, accesses the CD-ROM drive, and
relays data back to the client.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
CDSTARTJ.PUB.SYS A jobstream file that starts CDSERVER.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
CDSTOPJ.PUB.SYS A jobstream file that terminates CDSERVER.
If you need to restart CDSERVER, execute
this file first. You can also terminate
CDSERVER with the Media Manager
(CDMGR.PUB.SYS).
-----------------------------------------------------------------
CDMGR.PUB.SYS The Media Manager application program that
lets you perform system administration tasks
for your CD-ROM drives. Use this file to
get information about commands, to mount and
dismount CDs, to list CD-ROM devices and PCs
connected to CDSERVER, to disconnect PCs,
and to terminate CDSERVER. You can also
terminate CDSERVER by executing the
CDSTOPJ.PUB.SYS file.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
CDMGRSKT.PUB.SYS A zero-length file required for
communication between CDSERVER and CDMGR.
The file must be present for the
applications to run. If the file is
deleted, stream the CDSTARTJ.PUB.SYS file to
restart CDSERVER. Running CDSERVER
automatically re-creates the
CDMGRSKT.PUB.SYS file.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
CDSRVSKT.PUB.SYS A zero-length file required for
communication between CDSERVER and CDMGR.
The file must be present for the
applications to run. If the file is
deleted, stream the CDSTARTJ.PUB.SYS file to
restart CDSERVER. Running CDSERVER
automatically re-creates the
CDSRVSKT.PUB.SYS file.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
CDCAT.PUB.SYS A message catalog file for CDSERVER and
CDMGR.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
