HP CD Extensions for MPE/iX Installation and Administration Guide
Appendix B Installation Overview
This appendix presents the basic steps for installing HP CD extensions on
your HP 3000 and client PCs. Once you are familiar with all the
procedures, you can use this appendix as a quick reference or reminder
during an installation.
To install HP CD extensions:
1. Install and configure the CD-ROM drive on the HP 3000.
2. Install MPE/iX 5.0.
If you have an earlier version of MPE/iX installed, update the
system to MPE/iX 5.0. This installs the CD extensions files as
CD@.PUB.SYS.
3. Run your network services on the HP 3000.
4. Edit the CDSTARTJ.PUB.SYS file for your environment.
5. Stream the CDSTARTJ job to start the server.
6. Insert an ISO-9660, HSG, or LaserROM CD-ROM into the drive.
7. Run the Media Manager, and mount the CD-ROM.
8. Run your network services on the PC.
This must include TCP and HP sockets support.
9. Install the HP CD extensions client software on the PC from the
floppy disks provided with HP CD extensions (P/N B3683AA).
10. Invoke the client software either from your AUTOEXEC.BAT file or
from another BAT file you create to run HP CD extensions.
11. Access the new drive that MSCDEX assigns to the HP 3000 CD-ROM
drive.
