Information Access SQL/iX
How Access SQL/iX Works
The PC user establishes an MPE session on the HP 3000 through the Set
Active Connection dialog box in Information Access. The PC has either a
physical connection through a Local Area Network (LAN) or a supported
basic serial connection to the HP 3000. However, only ALLBASE/SQL and
ORACLE can be accessed with basic serial connections.
Information Access establishes a link with Access SQL/iX. Queries from
the PC user are passed to Access SQL/iX, which then issues them to the
database management system. Results of the queries are returned in a
usable form to the PC user.
When the PC user exits from Information Access, the processes that were
set up to handle the PC-to-HP 3000 communications are terminated for that
user.
NOTE When the HP 3000 session is established from the PC, the MPE user
identified in the logon sequence must have IA and SF capabilities
in order to use Access SQL/iX. Additionally, ND capability is
required for the user to be able to create the spoolfile IASVRERR
that records serious errors which may occur while the session is
active.
