Information Access SQL/iX
Personal Computer Requirements
All personal computers on the Access SQL/iX network must meet the
following minimum requirements:
* Each PC needs 7 Mbytes of available disk space to install
Information Access.
* The number of personal computers you plan for the network should
be appropriate for your HP 3000 system configuration.
* Each PC must have an RS-232/422 interface (for ALLBASE/SQL and
ORACLE only) or a LAN interface for remote access.
* If you are using an RS-232/422 connection, set the baud rate to
9600 or 19200 (for a hardwired connection) or to the appropriate
baud rate if using a modem. Also, set the port specification to
the port designated for the server connection. You can set these
parameters as follows:
* If you are using Information Access, set the port
specification using the Create Connection Definition window
and set the baud rate using the Control Panel window in the
Microsoft Windows 3.0 Program Manager.
You can also set the baud rate and port specification with basic
serial file commands.
NOTE If you are setting up basic serial connection files for Information
Access, use its online help facility for assistance.
If baud and port parameters are unspecified, Information Access uses the
default values of 9600 baud rate and port 1 (COM1). If you are
using COM3 or COM4 under Microsoft Windows, your PC must have a
Hayes-compatible serial card.
NOTE Baud and port information that has been set in the Information
Access Create Connection Definition window will be overwritten by
any baud or port information in a basic serial connection file.
DOS Requirements
Minimum DOS requirements are:
* DOS 2.11 or later for HP Vectra, IBM, Compaq, and IBM-compatible
personal computers using basic serial connections
* DOS 3.1 or later for HP Vectra, IBM, Compaq and IBM-compatible
personal computers using HP PC network software
Information Access Environment
You must have Microsoft Windows 3.1 installed on your PC. Information
Access requires a minimum of 4 Mbytes of memory. (See the HP Information
Access Installation Manual for additional requirements.)
