Information Access SQL/iX

HP 3000 Requirements

Access SQL/iX runs on HP 3000 Series 900 computers using DTCs over a
direct or modem connection or LANICs over a LAN connection.

Hardware Requirements

Be sure your system meets the following requirements before you install
Access SQL/iX.

Minimum Memory.

Access SQL/iX will operate with the minimum recommended memory for the
version of MPE/iX you are running, plus the minimum additional memory
needed for network installation.

Disk Space.

When you install Access SQL/iX on MPE/iX, the product uses approximately
18,000 disk sectors for its permanent files.

Software Requirements

Access SQL/iX uses the following software on the HP 3000 Series 900
computers:

   *   MPE/iX ALLBASE/SQL version A.F0.57

   *   MPE/iX version 4.0 or later and version A.G0.24

   *   ORACLE version 6.0 and version 7.0

   *   INGRES version 6.3 and version 6.4

   * If you are using ALLBASE/SQL and/or ORACLE, LAN3000/iX network
       software is required.

   * If you are using INGRES, NS3000/iX network software is required.
       INGRES does not support basic serial connections; it must be on a
       LAN.

MPE/iX Configuration.

When you configure MPE/iX for Access SQL/iX, consider these criteria:

   * When running under basic serial software, configure ports from
       which Information Access will run as terminal type 10. The
       datacomm software expects transmission to be from a terminal type
       10, and over a modem, could time out on a transmission from a port
       that is specified as something other than type 10. However, if
       you are running under direct hardwired basic serial software (not
       through a modem), it is not necessary to run as terminal type 10.

   * As with any new product installation, review the system
       configuration and make any necessary adjustments. (See Chapter 3,
       "Installing SQL/iX.")
