This Book
This book is intended to be the first book you read on receiving Micro
Focus COBOL. Provided you are familiar with COBOL and your operating
system, this book should be all you need to read to start preparing and
running programs.
It also gives an overview of the system, enabling you to find your way
around the other books and the detailed coverage they give of the many
features in the system.
The chapters in this book are as follows:

describes the COBOL system and introduces you to some of the
terminology used throughout the books.

covers installing the system.

covers the location and organization of the configuration files.

guides you through a brief session using the COBOL system so that
you will soon feel at home with it.

describes features that will be new to programmers experienced
with earlier versions.
