Dates Option
The Dates option appears on the Forecasts command dialog box.
You can specify a range of dates for the forecast by using this option.
Simply position the Start date scroll bar to a date that is previous to
the Stop date scroll bar. The Last date function also works with these
scroll bars. By positioning scroll bars to the end, you select the last
possible date.
Use the Start and Stop options to change the start and stop dates of the
display interval. Click on a scroll arrow to move the time 1 day; click
on the shaded bar to move the time 1 week; or drag the scroll box to move
the time 1 day per movement.
If the Start bar is positioned to Last, the Start date is calculated
based on the designated X-Axis value. For instance, suppose that the
Last date and the logfile last date are 30 June, and that 6 Months is
chosen for the X-Axis option. The calculated Start date is 30 June minus
6 months or the first day of the logfile, whichever is valid. This Start
date is shown after the graph is drawn, and the user returns to the
dialog box.
If you record a macro that involves changing dates on the Forecasts
dialog box of HP RXForecast, be aware that the dates are recorded as
relative dates.
Use the Validate option to check how well a forecast fits reality.
Position the Validate date after the Stop date. (The Validate date must
be within the range of historic data, not some time in the future.)
The data between the two dates will be plotted on the screen in a
different color, but will not be used in calculating the forecast. By
"hiding" the data from the forecasting model, the validity of the
forecast can be assessed.
If the Validate date is positioned before the Stop date, the Validate
date will be repositioned to Last when you click on OK.
Similarly, if the Stop date is positioned before the Start date, the Stop
date will be repositioned to Last when you click on OK. The Validate
date will be repositioned to Last as well.
