Chapter 5 HP RXForecast Case Studies This section gives three examples of using HP RXForecast. The logfile used in these case studies--TRAPPER.PRF--is provided on the CD that comes with HP LaserRX/MPE. Open this logfile if you would like to draw the forecasts described in these case studies.
NOTE If you have approximately 3.35 megabytes available on your PC, you should copy the file TRAPPER.PRF from the CD to your hard disk for these case studies. HP RXForecast accesses data much faster from the hard disk than it does from the CD. This also simulates your situation more closely, since you will be accessing your own data on the hard disk or remotely.
Trapper is a Series 58 system that is largely used as an HP DeskManager mail hub. It serves a number of HP 3000s as a link to outside mail nodes. The SCOPE collector has been running continuously from March 1988 until August 1988. You will use HP RXForecast to make some projections based on historic trends. You will follow the forecasting process that is defined earlier in Chapter 3 .
