HP RXForecast Users Manual for MPE Systems
NEXT Screen
On the Forecasts command dialog box there is a NEXT button in the lower
left-hand corner. Click on NEXT to access the second screen of the
dialog box and three more options.
These options let you do the following:
* Choose a user-created business unit file.
You must choose a business unit file to use the Business Units
trending method.
* Choose an application.
If the logfile highlighted on the first screen of the Forecasts
command dialog box contains application data, you will see a list
of those programs in the Application Names box.
* Choose the threshold line that you want displayed on your
forecasts.
The threshold line is a horizontal line drawn on your forecasts at
the chosen value, as long as that percentage is within the range
of the graph.
Change two of the options as follows:
1. Click on the application named OTHER in the Application Names list
box on the right-hand side of the dialog box.
2. Drag the scroll box on the Show Threshold option until the number
to the right of this option reads 40.
This selection will cause a line to be drawn on your forecast at
40 percent. This line will be drawn on all forecasts (as long as
40 is within the range of the graph) until you reset Show
Threshold.
3. Ignore business units, which are covered in Chapter 4 .
4. Click on OK.
Do the following on the Forecasts command dialog box:
1. Select Application CPU (you'll need to use the scroll bar).
2. Change the X-Axis to Year.
3. Set the Stop date to Last.
Notice that the application you selected on the NEXT screen, OTHER,
appears in the Application Name box.
4. Click on OK to draw the following forecast.
Notice the threshold line at 40 percent. Remember that you chose this
threshold line on the NEXT screen.
Leave this forecast displayed so that you can look at the statistical
report.
1. Enable the Stats command under the Zoom menu.
2. Put the cursor over the graph. Click and drag on it.
You must drag on the graph just as you do with the HP LaserRX/MPE
Zoom Application, Process and Time commands.
The following Stats report is displayed over your forecast:
Details about the statistical report can be found in "Understanding the
Stats Report" .
Close the report and the graph.
This chapter has given you a quick overview of the commands and options
available through HP RXForecast. For detailed descriptions of these
commands and options, refer to Chapter 7 . This would be a good time
to try HP RXForecast on your own, perhaps using your own logfiles.
When you feel comfortable with the basics of HP RXForecast, proceed to
Chapter 3 .
