HP Resource Sharing for MPE/iX

Deleting the Share File

The share file, PDSHARE.PPC.SYS, stores information about all active
shares on the system. When you load the Resource Sharing software, this
file contains no shares. As you define shares on the system, they are
written to this file. When you modify and delete shares, you are
changing the information in the share file. PDSHARE.PPC.SYS is a
privileged file and can only be deleted by the Delete Share function of
RESMGR.

RESMGR provides a delete function for the share file, so you can remove
it from your system should it become necessary. For example, if you were
drastically modifying the number of shares on your system, it might be
easier to delete the share file and reconfigure the system shares than to
remove or add them individually.

CAUTION Deleting the share file removes all shares from the system. It is unlikely that you will need to do so under normal operating conditions.
To delete the share file: 1. Access the RESMGR main screen, then choose System f4. 2. Choose Release Tables f1. RESMGR prompts: This function shuts down all Resource Sharing services. Continue? Y/N 3. Enter Y to release Resource Sharing's internal tables back to the system. The Release Tables function affects shares, so be sure there are no users on the network before continuing. Attempting to release the tables with active users results in an error message. 4. Choose Delete Share f3. RESMGR prompts: This function deletes the share file. Continue (Y/N)? 5. Enter Y if you are certain that you need to delete the file. RESMGR tells you: The share file (PDSHARE.PPC.SYS) has been deleted. ________________________________________________________________________ |If using commands, at the SYSTEM> prompt enter: | | | | | |DELETESHARE | ________________________________________________________________________
