Determining Shared Disc Free Space When you enter a DOS DIR command, the number of bytes of free space is displayed at the bottom of the listing. A fixed value is displayed if you enter a DIR command for a shared disc. This constant does not accurately represent the free space of the group, account, or system; you can use the MPE command DISKFREE to determine the exact amount of disc space available.
