HP Resource Sharing for MPE/iX

NetBIOS Monitor Utility

This section explains errors that may be displayed on the console through
Resource Sharing's use of the NetBIOS Monitor Utility.

All errors are logged as an entry in the NBSTKLOG.PPC.SYS log file for
use by your HP representative in researching problems.

A "fatal" error will require the network to be stopped and restarted to
enable the name registration communication method. The network should be
stopped using the following commands:

     :NSCONTROL STOP
     :NSCONTROL ABORT
     :NSCONTROL STATUS=SERVERS

ensures PDSERVER servers have terminated before issuing:

     :NETCONTROL STOP

Do not restart the network for several minutes to ensure that all
processes have shut down. The following command can be issued to
determine if the NBDAEMON process is still running:

     :NETBIOS STATUS

This will provide a message that the NBDAEMON is running or the command
will fail because the transport is not up.

NOTE If the network start and stop sequence does not enable the name registration communication method, then a "START NORECOVERY" reboot of the system may be necessary.
A "disable" error will require the system to be rebooted to enable the stream mode communication support after the problem has been resolved. RESSHR:NBMON ERR - Unable to get PLABEL for Port Procedure:1 This fatal error indicates that during NBMON's initialization, a call to HPGETSYSPLABEL failed when attempting to create the port for communication with DSDAD. Note the error message and number and contact your HP representative. RESSHR:NBMON ERR - Unable to create Message Pool for Port:2 This fatal error will occur during the initialization process of NBMON following the HPGETSYSPLABEL call. Note the error message and number and contact your HP representative. RESSHR:NBMON ERR - Unable to Create Port:3 This fatal error will occur during the initialization process of NBMON. Note the error message and number and contact your HP representative. RESSHR:NBMON ERR - Unable to Get AFT entry for Port:4 This fatal error will occur during the initialization process of NBMON. Note the error message and number and contact your HP representative. RESSHR:NBMON ERR - Invalid Global memory pointer:5 This fatal error occurs if the primary Resource Sharing initialization routine from Host Diagnostics fails to properly initialize the product, such as the Common Session information. Note the error message and number and contact your HP representative. RESSHR:NBMON ERR - Stream Mode not enabled:6 This disable error occurs if the primary Resource Sharing initialization routine from Host Diagnostics fails to properly initialize the product, such as the Common Session information. Note the error message and number and contact your HP representative. RESSHR:NBMON ERR - Stream Mode not enabled:7 This disable error occurs if the file NBDAEMON.PUB.HPLANMGR does not exist. Please be sure that the HP LAN Manager/XL product is installed during the product installation. Note the error message and number and contact your HP representative. RESSHR:NBMON ERR - IOWAIT failed:9 This fatal error occurs if the NBMON.PPC.SYS process experiences problems in receiving IO during its wait state. This may occur during the shutting down of reserved servers or active servers under the PDSERVER service, which does not require any action as the network is being shut down. Note the error message and number and contact your HP representative if the error occurs during network start up or while the network is up. RESSHR:NBMON ERR - Could not OPEN NBSTKLOG:filesyserror:10 This non-fatal error occurs when NBMON.PPC.SYS attempts to open the NBSTKLOG.PPC.SYS file. The "filesyserror" value is the returned value from the HPFOPEN intrinsic of the status.info word. Refer to the MPE/iX Intrinsics Manual and the MPE/iX Error Message Manual for the listed error and contact your HP representative for further assistance. RESSHR:NBMON ERR - Stream Mode not enabled:11 This disable error occurs when NBMON.PPC.SYS attempts to retrieve the host name from the network transport subsystem. Ensure that the system has the latest version of the NS transport and services software by contacting your HP representative. RESSHR:NBMON ERR - DSDAD Pin is 0:12 This fatal error occurs when NBMON.PPC.SYS fails to retrieve the correct Process Identification Number from the network transport subsystem. Note the error message and number and contact your HP representative. RESSHR:NBMON ERR - NBDaemon not started:13 This fatal error occurs if the LAN Network Interface value is not configured correctly in the RSCONF.PPC.SYS file. The default value is "LAN1", but must be set to the value used as the system's home network interface (as used by the ":NETCONTROL START;NET=niname" command). The NBDAEMON.PUB.HPLANMGR program called by NBMON.PPC.SYS may also experience problems resulting in this error. If the LAN Network Interface value is configured correctly, the problem may be caused by NBDAEMON. Note the error message and contact your HP representative.
