Information Access Server: Learning the Administrator Utility
F : Configuring IMAGE Tables
Next, derive IMAGE tables from two of the IMAGE datasets in database
SAMPL2--datasets PRODUCT-MASTER and INVENTORY. You'll be using the data
in Worksheet 1, Figure 2-2.
For each IMAGE table, you must tell Access Server which dataset contains
the information you want. Then you specify which items of information to
include in the table and how to include them. Later, these two IMAGE
tables will be used to construct view tables that will redefine this
information in the form required for dBASE II on a PC.
Here's what the system will look like when you add these IMAGE tables:

| | |
| To add an IMAGE database, you stepped | |
| through the menu path until the data entry | |

| Menu. | |
| | |
| There is a shortcut to reach most screens | |
| more directly. | |
| | |
| Each menu and screen that can be reached | |
| directly has a screen name which is an | |
| abbreviation of its full title. To go to | |
| any menu, you need only type this short | |
| name in the Go to screen field, and press | |
| Enter. | |
| | |
| You'll use the shortcut from now on, except | |
| when the screen you want can be chosen by | |
| function label from the current menu. | |
| | |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE A Go to screen field is found on every menu:

The Screen Map in Appendix C shows the relationships between menus
and screens, as well as the screen names you can use in the Go to
screen field.
You can also see an on-line listing of the screen names by typing ?
in the Go to screen field on any menu and pressing Enter.

| | |
| The cursor is at the Go to screen field. | |

| F-1. Type AIMT and press Enter. | You have told the Administrator Utility to |
| | go directly to the Add IMAGE Table (AIMT) |
| | screen. (Look for its short screen name in |
| | the upper right corner of the screen |
| | banner.) |
| | |
| Here you'll define two IMAGE tables from | |
| the IMAGE datasets of database SAMPL2 which | |
| you just configured. (Later, you'll rework | |
| this data into view tables.) | |

Summary
In this exercise, you learned how to:
* Get and include all dataset items in an IMAGE table, using two
different methods.
* Specify the conversion of packed IMAGE data when it is retrieved
through Access PC.
