Information Access Server: Database Administration
System Status Main Menu
You review system status on screen by using the System Status screens in
the Administrator Utility.
The System Status screens let you examine some aspects of how the data
and users you configured are working together. By regularly calling up
these screens, you can get a good idea of how heavily Access Server is
being used and how much disc space your users require for their saved
tables.
To use the System Status screens:
* Go directly to the screen you want by typing its screen name in
the Go to screen field of any menu and pressing Enter, or
* Choose a function label at the System Status Main Menu (SM).
The System Status Main Menu looks like this.

Examining User and Saved Table Information
Examine information about users and their saved tables at the List Active
Users (LA) screen, the List Saved Tables (LS) screen, and the Show User's
Saved Tables (SUS) screen.
These screens provide three different ways to examine system status:
* Display a list of all currently active users
* Display a list of all saved tables
* Display a list of saved tables for a specified user
Which screen you choose depends on why you are referencing the
information. These screens are shown on the following pages.
DBA Capabilities.
System status information can be examined only by the primary DBA.

To List All Currently Active Users:.
1. Go to the List Active Users screen. You can do this by typing LA
in the Go to screen field of any menu, or by choosing List All
Active f1 at the System Status Main Menu.
An alphabetically sorted list of the names of all currently active
users is displayed automatically. Also shown are the date and
time their current use began and the server's MPE priority for
each user.
If there are no currently active users, a message appears to that
effect.
2. If you want a printout of the complete listing, choose Print f1.
This sends a copy of the complete list to the file ADMLIST, which
prints to the default or other specified printer.
3. To leave this screen, choose Done f8. This returns you to the
System Status Main Menu. From there, you can go to another screen
or exit the utility.
For more information about a particular user's saved tables listed, go to
the Show User's Saved Tables (SUS) screen. (See "To Show...", below.)
For more information about the user definition for a particular user, go
to the Show User (SU) screen. (See Chapter 7, "Configuring Users.")
To List All Saved Tables:.
1. Go to the List Saved Tables screen. You can do this by typing LS
in the Go to screen field of any menu, or by choosing List All
Tables f2 at the System Status Main Menu.
A list of the all saved tables, the users who saved them, and the
number of disc sectors they occupy is displayed automatically.
The list is sorted alphabetically, first on user name, then on
saved table name.
For more information about a particular user's saved tables, go to the
Show User's Saved Tables (SUS) screen. (See "To Show...", below.)
To limit the number of tables a user can save or the number of disc
sectors the saved tables can occupy, go to the Add User (AU) screen for a
new user or the Change User (CU) screen for a user that is already
configured. (See Chapter 7, "Configuring Users.")
To Show a Particular User's Saved Tables:.
1. Go to the Show User's Saved Tables screen. You can do this by
typing SUS in the Go to screen field of any menu, or by choosing
Show One User f4 at the System Status Main Menu.
2. Type in the user name and press Enter.
Displayed on the screen are the current number of tables saved by
this user, the number of disc sectors those tables occupy, the
maximum number of tables and sectors allowed this user, the names
of this user's saved tables, and the number of sectors each table
occupies.
_________________________________________________________________
NOTE If, for some reason, a user saves duplicate copies of a
result table, Access Server users a pointer to the original
copy rather than creating multiple copies. As a
consequence, it's possible for the sum of the sectors listed
in the lower half of the screen to exceed the figures given
for current sectors and/or maximum sectors in the upper half
of the screen.
_________________________________________________________________
3. If you want a printout of the user's saved table information,
choose Print f1.
This sends a copy to the file ADMLIST, which prints to the default
or other specified printer.
4. To see the same information for another user, type in the new user
name over the old one and press Enter.
5. To leave this screen, choose Done f8. This returns you to the
System Status Main Menu. From there, you can go to another screen
or exit the utility.
Deleting a Saved Table
Delete an unwanted saved table at the Delete Saved Table (DS) screen.
The Delete Saved Table screen is used to delete saved tables and regain
disc space. Saved tables are deleted on a System Status screen, not a
Configuration screen, because they are not tables configured by a DBA.
All other addition, deletions, and changes are done using Configuration
screens.
Impact on PC Users.
Once a saved table is deleted, a user trying to access the saved table
(from the Remote Tables screen in Access PC or in the Host Batch
Facility) will get instead a message stating that the requested table
does not exist.
DBA Capabilities.
A saved table can be deleted only by the primary DBA.
To Delete a Saved Table Definition:.
1. Go to the Delete Saved Table screen by typing DS in the Go to
screen field of any menu, or by choosing Delete Table f3 at the
System Status Main Menu.
2. Type in the saved table name and the user name, then press Enter.
The Administrator Utility deletes the saved table definition and
the privileged T-file in PPCSAVE.HPOFFICE that contains its data.
3. When the screen clears, you can delete another saved table.
4. To leave this screen, choose Done f8. This returns you to the
System Status Main Menu. From there, you can go to another screen
or exit the utility.
