Setting Up and Maintaining Your System The Installation Guide

Completing Final Recovery Tasks

When the installation has successfully completed, you must perform
several manual steps before your system is returned to the factory
preload condition.

   1. Purge the spool files that HPINSTAL creates by entering the
       following command at the prompt:

              :SPOOLF @;DELETE

   2. Purge the INSTALL group from your system by responding Y to the
       question and typing the following:

              :CHGROUP PUB
              :PURGEGROUP INSTALL

   3. Copy the file NMNOVA to NMCONFIG to preload the Series 9X7LX
       system:

              :FILE CONFIG=NMCONFIG.PUB.SYS;DEV=1
              :COPY NMNOVA,*CONFIG

   4. Create an indirect file to provide a single-tape backup procedure
       for the system.

              :EDITOR
              \A
                1 @.@.SYS,@.@.@-@.@.SYS;DIRECTORY;SHOW=OFFLINE
                2 //
              \K FSETLIST
              \EXIT

   5. Create a new user, OPERATOR.SYS, by entering the following to
       enable the OPERATOR UDC:

              :NEWUSER OPERATOR.SYS;HOME=PUB;CAP=IA,BA,OP,PH,SF,ND
              :SETCATALOG HPOPUDC.MPEXL.SYS;USER=OPERATOR.SYS

   6. Shut down the system.

              :Ctrl A
              =SHUTDOWN

You have completed the recovery of your system. It is now
identical to the system that was shipped from the factory. Remove
the FPT and store it in a safe place. You are now ready to
prepare the system for use. Refer to Chapter 4 "Getting Your
System Ready for Use," to continue with the installation.
