HP LaserRX/MPE Installation Addendum
To Install HP LaserRX/MPE on the PC
HP LaserRX/MPE requires Microsoft Windows 3.0 or later. It is strongly
recommended that you do not proceed with the installation or update
procedure until you have successfully installed and configured Microsoft
Windows 3.0 on your PC.
HP LaserRX/MPE software should be installed--or updated--on the HP 3000
before you install or update HP LaserRX/MPE software on the personal
computer (PC).
CAUTION Customers updating from the A version software--as indicated by
program banner lines or the HP LaserRX/MPE About dialog box--to
this B version of the software will have to convert their HP
LaserRX/MPE logfiles.
Both host and PC software must be updated at the same time since
B version software collects and analyzes only B version
logfiles, and A version software collects and analyzes only A
version logfiles.
If you have an interim need to analyze logfiles produced by both
A and B version host software, the B version PC software should
be installed in a different subdirectory than the A version
software.
Existing HP LaserRX/MPE Users
The update procedure will replace or delete HP LaserRX/MPE files in the
designated HP LaserRX/MPE directory. In addition, new files will be
added. Files that you have placed in the product directory will not be
modified or deleted. However, before you begin the update procedure, you
should back up any files that you have placed in the HP LaserRX/MPE
directory.
The optional "trapper" logfiles will need 15 megabytes to install on your
hard disk. These files will be needed for the self-paced training. The
logfiles can be loaded at a later date.
To Update HP LaserRX/MPE on the PC.
1. Insert Disk 1 of the installation disks into drive A:
2. Type A:INSTALL and press Enter.
Follow the instructions in the update procedure. When asked, you
must specify the drive and directory in which HP LaserRX/MPE is
already installed (default is C:\LASERRX).
The installation program will ask you for an authorized user of
LaserRX and will update the executable file. It will also ask if
you want to install the "trapper" logfiles for the LaserRX
self-paced training. The logfiles can be loaded at a later date.
This is the end of the update procedure.
For an overview of new features in HP LaserRX/MPE, see Chapter 3 in your
HP LaserRX/MPE User's Manual: Analysis Software manual.
New Users of HP LaserRX/MPE on the PC
This procedure copies HP LaserRX/MPE software from the installation disk
to the subdirectory that you designate (default is C:\LASERRX) on the
PC's hard disc.
The executable files for LaserRX require 3.5 megabytes of hard disk
space. The "trapper" logfiles will need 15 megabytes to install on
your hard disk. The default subdirectory for the logfiles is
C:\LASERRX\LOGFILES. These files will be needed for the self-paced
training. The logfiles can be loaded at a later date.
To Install HP LaserRX/MPE on the PC.
1. Insert Disk 1 of the installation disks into drive A.
2. Type A:INSTALL and press Enter.
Follow the instructions in the installation program. It will ask
for an authorized user of LaserRX and will update the executable
file.
The installation program will also ask if you want to install the
"trapper" logfiles.
This is the end of the installation procedure. Before you start HP
LaserRX/MPE, however, you should go into the Windows 3.x Control Panel,
set the international option for the country you want, and click OK.
This will ensure that dates appear correctly on your HP LaserRX/MPE
graphs.
