HP LaserRX/MPE Installation Addendum

What You Will Need

HP LaserRX/MPE requires a PC in addition to the HP 3000(s) you will be
monitoring. This section describes hardware and software requirements
for the PC.

PC Hardware Requirements

To install and use HP LaserRX/MPE, you must have an original HP Vectra
(classic) PC; an HP Vectra ES, QS, or RS; or an IBM PC AT.

You may not use an HP Vectra CS or LS.

Your PC must have the following minimum configuration:

   * At least 640 Kbytes of memory.

   * At least one RS-232 serial data communications port (COM1 or COM2)
       through which the PC can be connected to an HP 3000 for basic
       serial connections; or a ThinLAN or StarLAN interface if you are
       using HP ARPA Services or HP Network Services connections.

   * A hard disc drive with a recommended minimum of 15.0 Mbytes of
       space available for HP LaserRX/MPE logfiles and up to 3.5 Mbytes
       of space available for HP LaserRX/MPE software.

   * An EGA or VGA graphics adapter card and monitor.

   * A minimum of 512 Kbytes of expanded memory if you are using HP
       ARPA Services or HP Network Services software. Performance of
       applications under Microsoft(R) Windows(TM) 3.x is extremely
       sensitive to available memory. Basically, more memory is better.
       Please refer to the section titled "Configuring Your System's
       Memory" in the Microsoft Windows 3.x User's Guide for a detailed
       explanation of memory configuration on your PC.

   *   A mouse.

PC Software Requirements

You must have the following software to use HP LaserRX/MPE.

   * MS-DOS(R) PC operating system, version 3.1 or later.

   * Microsoft Windows, version 3.0 or later.

   * HP ARPA Services or HP Network Services software and binary file
       transfer capability if you are using HP LaserRX/MPE directly over
       a local area network (LAN).

   *   A terminal emulator.
