HP LaserRX/MPE Installation Addendum

Transferring HP LaserRX/MPE Files

Use one of the following methods to transfer installation files to your
HP 3000:

   *   Method 1.

       This method uses the DSLOAD procedure, which is provided on the
       "MPE V Host Software Install" disk or Disk 1 of the "MPE XL Host
       Software Install" disks. To use this method, you must have DSCOPY
       and an HP ARPA Services software connection from the HP 3000 to
       the PC. This method should take about 15 minutes on an MPE V
       system and about 45 minutes on an MPE XL system.

   *   Method 2.

       This method uses the file transfer capability of a terminal
       emulator package (such as HP AdvanceLink) that runs on your PC.
       You can use this option if you have a serial or LAN connection to
       the HP 3000 from the PC. This method should take about 10 minutes
       on an MPE V system and about 35 minutes on an MPE XL system.

   *   Method 3.

       This method uses a connection to the target HP 3000 through your
       PC's serial port. We recommend that you log on to the HP 3000
       before running the Method 1 upload procedure. To speed file
       transfer, log on at the fastest baud rate available to you. You
       can use this option whether or not you have file-transfer
       capability. File transfers using this method should take about 30
       minutes on an MPE V system and about 1 hour on an MPE XL system
       (at 19200 baud).

NOTE These installation procedures do not change any existing PARM and SCOPEJOB files in SCOPE.SYS.
Method 1: DSCOPY for HP Network Services Users To prepare for transferring files using DSCOPY, do the following: * Verify that the group SCOPE.SYS exists. If it does not exist, create the group SCOPE. * Know the node name of the target HP 3000. * Know all passwords for user MANAGER, account SYS, and group SCOPE. * Prepare to run DSLOAD by inserting the appropriate host software installation disk into the A drive. DSLOAD, the program that accepts parameters and runs DSCOPY, is provided on Disk 1 of the appropriate disk set. See table MPE-1 to choose the appropriate disk. To transfer the files, do the following: 1. Type A: and press Enter. 2. Use the DSLOAD command as described for your system: * MPE V systems - type DSLOAD nodename userpass acctpass grouppass, where nodename is the node name of the target HP 3000 and userpass acctpass grouppass are the user, account, and group passwords, if they exist, and press Enter. (Substitute "" where a password does not exist if another password follows.) * MPE XL systems - type DSLOAD systemtype nodename userpass acctpass grouppass, where systemtype is 22 for version 2.2 systems, 30 for version 3.0 or 3.1 systems, and 40 for version 4.x systems, nodename is the node name of the target HP 3000 and userpass acctpass grouppass are the user, account, and group passwords, if they exist, and press Enter. (Substitute "" where a password does not exist if another password follows.) To get help, enter DSLOAD without parameters. After the files are transferred, proceed to the "Completing the HP 3000 Software Installation" section of this chapter. Method 2: Terminal Emulator File Transfer Enter terminal emulation mode on your PC and do the following: 1. Log on as MANAGER.SYS. 2. Create the SCOPE group, if it does not already exist. 3. Insert the appropriate host software installation disk into drive A. 4. Copy files to the HP 3000. _________________________________________________________________ NOTE When you copy files to the HP 3000, file names and attributes must be provided as specified in table MPE-1 on the following page. _________________________________________________________________ Table B-1. Disk and File Information ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | | | | | Disk | Copy from | Copy to | File Attributes | | | Local (PC) | Remote (HP 3000) | | | | | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | | MPE V Systems | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | | | | | Disk 1 | TRUCK.HSL | TRUCKPC.SCOPE.SYS | BINARY, 256 bytes | | | | | | | Disk 1 | UHAUL.HST | UHAULPC.SCOPE.SYS | BINARY, 256 bytes | | | | | | | Disk 1 | BUILDRX.TXT | BUILDRX.SCOPE.SYS | ASCII, 72 bytes | | | | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | | MPE XL Systems | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | | | | | Disk 1 | TRUCK1.HSL | TRUCK1PC.SCOPE.SYS | BINARY, 256 bytes | | | | | | | Disk 1 | UHAUL.HST | UHAULPC.SCOPE.SYS | BINARY, 256 bytes | | | | | | | Disk 1 | BUILDRX.TXT | BUILDRX.SCOPE.SYS | ASCII, 72 bytes | | | | | | | Disk 2 | TRUCK2.HSL | TRUCK2PC.SCOPE.SYS | BINARY, 256 bytes | | | | | | | Disk 3 | TRUCK22.HSL (MPE XL | TRUCKPC.SCOPE.SYS | BINARY, 256 bytes | | | version A.41.00) | | | | | | | | | Disk 3 | TRUCK30.HSL (MPE XL | TRUCKPC.SCOPE.SYS | BINARY, 256 bytes | | | version B.30.00) | | | | | | | | | Disk 3 | TRUCK40.HSL (MPE XL | TRUCKPC.SCOPE.SYS | BINARY, 256 bytes | | | version B.40.00) | | | | | | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After transferring the files, proceed to the "Completing the HP 3000 Software Installation" section of this chapter.
NOTE If existing copies of the host files TRUCKPC, UHAULPC, or BUILDRX are found during the transfer, you will be prompted to purge them. If this prompt appears, answer "YES" and continue with installation.
Method 3: Serial Connection Upload Before beginning installation, be sure to know which PC port connects you to the HP 3000 (COM1 or COM2) and the baud rate of that PC port. Choose the appropriate host software disks for your MPE operating system - MPE V or MPE XL. To Start the Installation. 1. Log on to the target HP 3000 as MANAGER.SYS. This procedure sets up the SCOPE.SYS group within the MPE accounting structure if it does not already exist and copies programs and supporting files from the PC to the HP 3000 disc using a serial link. 2. Insert the appropriate host software installation disk into drive A. 3. Type A: and press Enter. 4. Type UPLOAD and press Enter. To Complete the Installation. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen. When prompted, enter the requested information: 1. Logon and passwords (if you are not already logged on as MANAGER.SYS). 2. Baud rate (default is 9600). 3. PC port (default is COM1). _________________________________________________________________ Tip You can use Enter or Tab to move from one field to the next, or use the cursor arrows--^, v, <-, or ->--to move up, down, left, or right to the field of your choice. _________________________________________________________________ 4. Change the Baud Rate and Port fields if it is required for your configuration. Field How to Change Logon Type MANAGER.SYS (if you not are already logged on as MANAGER.SYS). Baud Rate Press the space bar until the correct value for the baud rate (1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, or 19200) is displayed in the field. Port Press the space bar until the correct value for the Port (1 for COM1 and 2 for COM2) is displayed in the field. Connection File Ignore this field unless you have complex connection requirements. For information on using command files, see the Using Basic Serial Connection Files manual. 5. Exit UPLOAD after successful installation by pressing F1. If the installation was not successful, you will receive an error message. Refer to the "Resolving Problems" section of this chapter.
