HP DeskManager Administration
Running the Configurator
The HP Desk Configurator program can be run from any VPLUS/3000
compatible terminal. The configuration options presented by the
Configurator are menu driven and vary with the capability of the user.
You use the Configurator from MPE to build your initial databases. Once
HP Desk is configured you run the Configurator either from MPE with HP
Desk running or from within HP Desk itself.
To run the Configurator if you are logged on as MGR.HPOFFICE in the
MAILDB group or you are the System or Local Administrator, type:
MAILCONFIG
Running the Configurator from HP 264x terminals:
The function key labels on HP 264x terminals are not displayed on the
screen. Refer to the example screens in this chapter to check which keys
to select.
Running the Configurator to configure a Native Database:
This facility is only intended for 16-bit versions of HP Desk.
The Job Control Word (JCW) NLDATALANG must be set before you enter
Mailconfig, when you can create a Native Database.
Once a Native Database is created you configure users with non-USASCII
native names. The Language ID you enter is tested for compatibility with
the one quoted in the JCW. We recommend that you enter the JCW
separately, although you can set the JCW as part of a User Defined
Command (UDC) from Mailconfig.
Changing the Language ID:
This facility is only intended for 16-bit versions of HP Desk.
You must leave HP Desk when the language is being changed to set the JCW
with the new language ID. The JCW syntax is:
SETJCW NLDATALANG=n where n is the 3-digit Language ID.
Once the JCW is reset you can re-enter HP Desk.
You can create a UDC to simplify the process of recording a change of
language. For example, a UDC named NL211 could execute:
SETJCW NLDATALANG=211.
