HP Desk Administration Tasks

HP Desk Administration tasks support users, and are explained in this
manual. Users should not be responsible for administration tasks as the
Administrator co-ordinates these.

In summary, administration consists of:

   * Initial planning, sizing and configuration of HP Desk's databases.

   *   Securing the system.

   * Ensuring HP Desk is available to users and that messages reach
       their destinations in reasonable time.

   * Maintaining the integrity of the databases and keeping the
       directory of users up-to-date.

   * Updating and tailoring the system configuration as required.

   * Administering any other integrated products that are installed,
such as AdvanceMail, NewWave Mail, HP OpenMail, or third party
       applications.

   * Providing users with answers to their questions and solutions to
their problems, through training and day-to-day support.

Depending on the complexity of your HP Desk installation and the
structure of your organization, administration will impose differing
demands of time, ability, experience of computers, and experience of HP
Desk. Anyone performing an administration task is referred to as an
Administrator.
