HP DeskManager Administration
Compatibility with previous versions.
You should be aware of the following limitations when HP Desk version
B.05.00 is used in conjunction with earlier versions, and when HP
DeskManagerPLUS versions are used in conjunction with regular HP Desk.
Routed Messages
CAUTION If you have HP DeskManagerPLUS installed and you intend to use
the Routing and Authorization capability, you should note that
routed messages will not be recognized on HP Desk systems that
have software prior to B.05.00. The effect of this is that
routed messages will become blocked along the route, since the
receiving system does not apply any more processing to these
items than to standard messages. It is important therefore that
all HP Desk systems in a network are upgraded to HP
DeskManagerPLUS version B.05.00 or later before Routing and
Authorization is fully implemented.
Routed messages sent to regular HP Desk version B.05.00 systems can be
approved or rejected (so blocking can be avoided), however they cannot be
originated on those systems.
NS Transport usage
Communication via NS transport is available only between one HP Desk
version B.05.00 or later system and another. DS communication must
continue to be used to link HP Desk to older versions of the product.
Remote Directory Updating
Batch updating of Directory information which is local to the receiving
system is available if both the sending system and receiving system have
HP DeskManagerPLUS version B.05.00 or later installed. Batch updating of
directories will be limited to items which are remote to the receiving
system if one or both of the sending or receiving system is not HP
DeskManagerPLUS.
Additionally, a number of new batch update transaction types which may be
applied to both regular HP Desk and HP DeskManagerPLUS version B.05.00 or
later will not be recognized by earlier versions. These are type 05, 06,
44 and 53. Extensions to the 41, 43, 94 and 96 transactions have also
been made that if utilized and applied to versions earlier than B.05.00
would result in those transactions being rejected.
