After System Recovery ora Scheduled Switchover

The procedure enables an operator to switch back control of volume sets
from an alternate system (Beta) to a home system (Alpha).

   1. Bring up the home system (Alpha) and enter the following:

            : SPUCONTROL START Return

   2. Inform the home system (Alpha) users currently logged on to the
alternate system (Beta) to log off of the alternate system (Beta).

   3. Log off the applications and sessions currently using the
switchable volume sets from the alternate system (Beta).

   4. Close the volume sets using the VSCLOSE command. (Refer to the
MPE XL Commands Reference Manual (32650-90003).)

            : VSCLOSE volumesetname Return

   5. Enter the SWITCHBACK command from the the home system (Alpha)
       console as shown:

            : SWITCHBACK FROM=BETA TO=ALPHA Return

The home system (Alpha) responds by displaying the following
message once on the home system (Alpha) and alternate system
       (Beta) consoles:

/00:00/nn/SPU SWITCHBACK FROM BETA TO ALPHA STARTING.

After this message appears, the home system (Alpha) does the
       following:

          * Unlocks the currently locked switchable volume sets on the
              alternate system (Beta).

          * Locks and opens the volume sets on the home system (Alpha).

          * Displays a message on the home system (Alpha) for each
switchable volume set that is switched back.

   6. Respond to the following message that is displayed on the home
system (Alpha) when switchback has successfully completed:

            /00:00/nn/ACKNOWLEDGE SPU SWITCHBACK FROM BETA
            TO ALPHA COMPLETE (Y/N)?

            =REPLY nn,Y Return

This message is displayed every 30 seconds until the operator
acknowledges completion of the switchback. The operator must
respond to this message on the home system (Alpha).

The following message appears once on the alternate system (Beta)
       console:

/00:00/nn/SPU SWITCHBACK FROM BETA TO ALPHA COMPLETE.

   7. Enter the SPUCONTROL STATUS command to verify the status of the
       SPU Switchover/XL environment.
