Activating the SPU Switchover/XL Environment
To start the SPU Switchover/XL environment, the CI SPUCONTROL command
must be used. This command can be used to initiate, start, and stop the
SPU Switchover/XL environment, display status information, and display
the system name.
Following are the two required steps for activation of the SPU
Switchover/XL environment:
1. Initialize the SPU Switchover/XL environment that was created
using the SYSGEN utility, by entering the following on the home
(configuring) system:
: SPUCONTROL SETUP Return
A copy of the new configuration file is automatically sent to the
alternate system. This enables synchronization across the home
and alternate systems' pairs.
2. Establish the system status message (communication link) between
the home and alternate systems by entering the following on either
the home or alternate system:
: SPUCONTROL START Return
This allows each system to determine if its partner is operative.

NOTE It is highly recommended that the SPUCONTROL START command
be added to the SYSSTART file.
