1-8. TEXT FILE The TEXT file is an external file which is brought into the EDIT/3000 subsystem (copied into the WORK file) with a TEXT command (see Section 111). The contents of the TEXT file become the contents of the WORK file and all modifications then are performed on the WORK file. The WORK file can be saved with the present name of the TEXT file, in which case the modifications are incorporated and the previous version of the TEXT file is purged; or the WORK file can be saved under a new name and the previous version of the TEXT file will remain unchanged.
