Preparing for System Shutdown
After the prerequisites have been fulfilled, it is time to prepare the
system for shutdown.
1. Halting Any Remaining Sessions
The syntax for halting sessions is:
ABORTJOB #Snnn
Perform this step for each session (except the system console's session)
listed by SHOWJOB. Do not abort the session on the system console.
The syntax for verifying the status of jobs and sessions is:
SHOWJOB
The list should now contain only the session on the system console.
NOTE You could do a =LOGOFF #Snn where nn is the session number of the
console. This logs off all sessions except the system console.
2. Deactivating NS3000/XL
If the NS3000/XL product is installed, the syntax for deactivating it is:
NSCONTROL STOP
NETCONTROL STOP
3. Saving Spooled Files
The syntax for saving remaining spoolfiles, (after you have mounted a
write-enabled tape) is:
FILE T;DEV=TAPE
SPFXFER
>OUTPUT @.@;*T;PURGE;SHOW=OFFLINE
This results in a tape request from the system.
4. Shutting down the System
The syntax for shutting down the system is:
CTRL A
SHUTDOWN
