Creating Additional Configuration Groups
Any number of system configurations can be created and maintained as long
as they are assigned different group names. If a group name is not
specified, the default group name (usually CONFIG.SYS) is the group used
to boot the system. The system always looks for this group unless
instructed otherwise.
Additional configuration groups must be named groupname, and groupname
cannot be CONFIG.
Creating an Alternate Configuration Group
To create an alternate configuration group, enter:
:SYSGEN basegroup, newgroup
If a basegroup is not specified, CONFIG.SYS is used by default. For
example:
:SYSGEN ,newgroup
creates a duplicate of CONFIG named newgroup. You can modify this group
using any of the various configurators and the HOLD command before you
exit each configurator.
Saving the Alternate Configuration Group
To save the alternate configuration group, enter:
sysgen>KEEP
The new group specified in the sysgen> command is kept, or you may
explicitly state the group name. For example:
sysgen>KEEP newgroup
