System Administrator's Quick Reference Guide

1.  Mounting the System Load Tape 

To start the installation:

   1.  Turn on the system power.

   2.  Mount the system load tape on the tape drive and press the LOAD
       button and the ON LINE button.

   3.  Verify that disks are installed in disk drives, and drives are
       online.

   4.  Reset the system:

       a.  At the system console, enter:

                CTRL B 

       b.  At the CM> prompt, enter:

                CM>RS 

           This initiates a hard reset on the Series 950/980, a soft
           reset on the Series 922/935, and executes hardware
           diagnostics.  If a failure occurs refer to appendix A, System 
           Startup, Configuration, and Shutdown Reference Manual 
           (32650-90042).

       c.  Press any key when the following prompt appears:

                TO OVERRIDE, PRESS ANY KEY WITHIN 10 SECONDS.

       d.  Press N in answer to the following prompt:

                BOOT FROM PRIMARY BOOT PATH (Y or N)?

       e.  Press Y in answer to the prompt:

                BOOT FROM ALTERNATE BOOT PATH (Y or N)?

       f.  Press Y in answer to the prompt:

                INTERACT WITH IPL (Y or N)?

           The system boots from the tape and, after several messages,
           displays the prompt:

                ISL>
