Restarting After an Incremental or Full System Backup
Procedures for backing up the system are described in chapter 7, "System
Backup". Incremental and full system backup procedures shut users out of
the system, but the system itself is not shut down, spoolfiles are not
deleted, and the system remains in the command interpreter (the colon
prompt is displayed). Thus the procedures for restarting the system
after a backup only involve letting users back onto the system.
After the system backup has completed, the message END OF SUBSYSTEM is
displayed. Begin the system restart after you see this message. All
procedures described below are executed from the system console.
Letting Users Start New Sessions and Execute Jobs
Let users back on the system by resetting job and session limits, and
lowering the jobfence:
:LIMIT numberjobs,numbersessions
:JOBFENCE priorityfence
where priorityfence is a number between 0 and 14.
